> Click for a quick video of the paws in action!

These great PAWS are for sale!  I’ve been working on this pattern for a long while to get them just -perfect- and I’m very proud of them!

They feature appliquéd paw pads made from velvety faux leather, sturdy marine vinyl claws, double-reinforced seams, bias tape finished cuffs, and sewn padding inserts in each finger to give them a squishy and soft shape. On top of all that, they’re machine washable! These paws are built to last a long time and look adorable while doing so. :D They will comfortably fit small to medium-large sized hands, and forearms up to 9 1/2” in circumference.

Asking $150 + shipping, if you are interested please email arupaka.art[at]gmail[.]com.

I am also taking limited CUSTOM paw commissions!! Check out this post for more info!

Welcome to Fursuit Help!

fursuit-help:

This is a community-driven blog providing fursuit help and construction techniques. Your mods are Matrices and Mimblex, and while we will be offering our own critiques and help, the entire community is encouraged to help give advice, constructive crits, and resources!

Here is how you can participate!

Submit a post - By clicking the “submit a post” button on the left toolbar, you can submit your own WIPs, ask for critique, post tutorials, share tips, and so on. For critique- and question-based submissions, one of the mods will attempt to help first, then others can offer their help once it’s published.

Send an ask - Click “Ask a question” to sumbit text-based questions. The mods will respond first when it’s published, then others in the community can pitch in. If your question is too long or if you want to post it along with pictures, please use the “Submit” feature!

Reply with comments - Click the speech bubble icon at the bottom of any submission to leave a reply! Feel free to offer your own helpful comments on any community post. (If you’re new and the reply function isn’t visible or working, you may have to keep following the blog for at least two weeks first. This is a feature implemented by Tumblr that I can’t turn off, sorry!)

Reblog to reply - To leave a longer reply or attach your own images along with a reply (like for redline crits), reblog any post to your own blog first and offer your help! Particularly helpful replies will get re-reblogged back onto Fursuit Help for others to see.

Matrices and I have started a fursuit help & resources blog!! We were both craving a good resource for helping other fursuit makers in a more accessible social network location (since the other awesome resource out there, Fursuits on LJ, can be kinda isolated these days). Please check it out and consider participating if you’re into fursuit construction & techniques, I’m excited to help other makers!

Probably my favorite picture I’ve ever taken. Woke this little guy up when I walked across the log he was sleeping in while I was fishing. Long eared Myotis bat at Sailor Lake in Montana.

The skull of the Chinese Water Deer is one of the most iconic skulls out there.

Like many small Asian deer species, it does not have antlers. Instead the males fight each other with their extremely sharp tusks, slashing at rivals with downward head swings.

When not actively shanking others, the tusks can be folded back slightly., so they don’t interfere with eating.

Since I’ve been playing Wildstar so much here lately, I thought I’d celebrate with a little concept art dump!!  Some of the many random things I drew during my time at Carbine.  Also I’m sure Andy Cotnam, Mindy Lee, or Johnson Truong probably had a hand in the concepting of more than a few of these.  What a super talented team I had!

here’s something I’d like to add about the bee post

several people have been appending “don’t buy honey” onto it and honestly, I’m not sure why, because beekeepers know when their hives can spare honey and when they can’t. beekeepers do not make a habit of starving their bees in order to get honey to sell!!
i don’t know where people are getting this idea. when you buy local honey from a beekeeper, you are supporting them so that they can bring more bees to your area. I have never heard of a beekeeper who is not in it for the bees. DO buy local honey, if you can.

I am literally a foot taller than the owner, so the legs really don’t look right on me. Use your imagination - or see :finchcaticon: in person at AC! ;)
This gal has a moving jaw, delrin tail for extra bounce, folded wings with 38 individually sewn and airbrushed feathers, and individual butt feathers with interfacing in each one. Finches have a way different beak shape (especially from the front) than a hawk or any other curved beak , so that was the most challenging part - but I’m happy with the results! And the colors made it SO fun to work on! :D

Raptor Mask

This is a “generic Dromaeosaur” as it is not modeled after any specific species, nor is it even slightly trying to be scientifically accurate. That said, DINOBIRD AND FEATHERS.
The resin blank that this is based on was sculpted and created by Kierstin - http://kierstinlapatka.tumblr.com/  Don’t miss out on looking at her work, because her beautiful sculpting job is the star of the show here!
I then painted it, sculpted and set teeth into it, painted acrylic half-spheres and set them for eyes, added faux fur, and feathers. This is a fully functional mask, and the wearer can see (quite well!) out of holes in front of the eyes. The jaw is articulated and fluidly moves with the wearer’s own jaw movements.

The colors and patterns were inspired by 1) Golden-Crowned Kinglets, and 2) This old art I made, http://nambroth.deviantart.com/art/Dromaeosaur-Ferns-166320439 and, 3) I had this really cool faux fur that I really, really wanted to use… and,

Her expression changes drastically depending on the angle that she looks at you from. Sometimes she looks doofy and happy, and sometimes she looks .. well, predatory.
